The young British owners really love this part of France and are staying close by! They love the house too (and the river) but have long held the desire to design and build their own "Grand Design" dream home.

Some people say they are mad - I guess they still watch too much British property-TV!

They have bought and paid for their plot of land (after quite a search) and now need to sell this house before starting on the next stage. There is no hurry - but if you are in a hurry, they are happy to get cracking and move into rented premises straight away!

Likewise if you really want the house but are not yet in a position to "complete" - you could "exchange contracts" (sign the compromis de vente) which guarantees you the house and agree a longer than normal period before completion (acte de vente). For your information, the normal period between compromis and acte de vente is usually 12 weeks - you could suggest 24 weeks for example. This is very flexible.

The owners will only be 5km or so away and plan to visit all their Dufortois friends regulary - they have been made so welcome.
