Durfort village centre is just 1 km from the house. There is a wonderful lively community feel and any new residents or holiday home owners are made to feel most welcome. The population of Durfort is around 250 people of all ages. There are numerous small shops, a football pitch, church and museum detailing the history of the village and its famous copper "industry".

Durfort is a 7 day a week village - being popular with local french tourists and international visitors alike. So unlike many rural French villages which can feel a little "dead"!

There is a thriving community-hall with clubs and societies running most evenings (fitness classes, table-tennis, badminton, cards/board games...that sort of thing) plus regular boules/petanque games outside in the village square. In June we have our annual "fete de village" which consisits of a large party, meal and bonfire - this is attended by most of the village and is always a fabulous family event. There are various other village activities throughout the year - keep your eye on the noticeboard!
